VIDEO CONFERENCING INSTALLATION
Video Conferencing Installations vary considerably based on application and budget. Video Conferencing is in high demand due to the move to flexible working and reducing travel costs.
Practical Audio Visual will survey, discuss and recommend the most appropriate Video Conferencing Solution for your meeting space. We will take care of the design, supply, install and configuration of the system. We will also integrate your Video Conferencing System with new or existing audio-visual equipment.
THE KEY CONSIDERATIONS IN YOUR VIDEO CONFERENCING SOLUTION:
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR SEATING ORIENTATION
MICROPHONE TYPE AND COVERAGE
VOIP AND TELEPHONY
NETWORKED VS NON-NETWORKED
TABLE LAYOUT - SINGLE USE OR MULTI-PURPOSE
VIDEO CONFERENCING SOFTWARE (E.G. SKYPE, GOTOMEETING, BLUEJEANS)
BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE VS FIXED PC
INTEGRATION WITH MOBILE PHONES WITH BLUETOOTH AND AUX
PROJECTOR, TV, SPEAKERS, AMPLIFIERS AND CONTROL SYSTEMS
CONTROL SYSTEM AND DIAL PAD
WE GENERALLY DIVIDE OUR SOLUTIONS INTO 3 CATEGORIES -
SMALL, MEDIUM AND LARGE WITH A CROSS-SECTION OF EQUIPMENT TO SUIT BUDGET.
This could be an office with an individual user, or a small meeting room come huddle space. Typically, 1-6 people.
In this scenario you can consider a front mounted Video Conferencing Bar such as the Acendo Vibe 5100 with a LED Screen. This front mounted Video Conferencing Bar is ideal for reducing cable runs and is a compact easily installed system. The Bar has inbuilt microphones, speakers and a video camera. You can also Bluetooth the audio aspects.
Alternatively, for a higher performing system you might consider a table mounted array microphone from Shure. The MXA310 and its associated audio-conferencing processor deliver incredible voice clarity with inbuilt echo cancellation. The microphone has 4 directional microphones which can be directed exactly as required. You can use as many MXA310’s as required, with the right processing power, meaning a fully scalable solution Depending on your set-up you might consider combining this with a USB or Networked HD USB PTZ Camera.
For those looking for a more straightforward approach we supply and integrate a wide array of USB VoIP phones which can sit on your table top with additional microphones for wider coverage.
Depending on the user profile you might consider a simple control system in the room to switch between Presentation Mode, Video Conferencing Mode and enable remote less ON/OFF and Volume Control.
At this point you are looking at a Boardroom size Video Conferencing System with around 8-16 people. You have more participants spread over a wider area. You require more microphones and a wider field of view from your camera. It may also have multiple uses such as ‘Meeting’, ‘Lecture’ or ‘Training’.
For a medium sized video conferencing solution, we recommend moving to a ceiling mounted microphone. A ceiling mounted microphone with a wider directional pick-up is not as easily obstructed by laptops on the table or people speaking away from the microphone. Our go to product is the MXA910 which has 8 steerable microphones allowing effective pick-up of up to 16 people.
Alternatively, when ceiling mounting is not possible multiple microphones such as the MXA310’s can be used for a comparable system.
Depending on the number of microphones and level of control system integration you are considering you may get by with something like the intellimix p300-imx audio conferencing processor or you may need to scale to something more substantial from Q-SYS.
Q-SYS enables the integration of a VoIP line to be used in addition to the Video Conferencing Software such as Skype. It also comes with a highly customizable control system and touch screen control pad such as the TSC-80w-G2.
16 PEOPLE UPWARDS.
The larger room video conferencing system, from around 16 people and upwards, now begins to lean heavily on the audio and video conferencing processor which is running behind the scenes. Depending on scale the backbone of the system would be one of the 3 Q-SYS Cores.
The set-up varies depending on the function of the room. Applications include standard video conferencing, audio only, lecture capture and large-scale collaboration or worship.
With so many microphones, multiple cameras and potentially different room layouts you create the additional challenge of making such a complex system user friendly. Again we would rely on a integrated touch screen controller which can be programmed for any purpose.
To deliver the processing power required we switch wholesale to a Q-SYS platform for control and processing with Shure Microphones as and when required. Q-SYS also provide their own IP PTZ Cameras which can integrate seamlessly with the wider system.
The larger Q-SYS cores can run multiple rooms across a LAN network creating a very scalable solution with added cost savings. This might be a campus or office block.
